The company

We are working with a highly successful NZ-owned industrial & construction business who are one of the market leaders in their field. 

The business is dedicated to providing leading products to their respective markets and has an established reputation for quality service with a distribution reach across NZ.

They have been investing heavily in their Supply Chain capability over the past 12 months and this is a newly created position and a key hire as part of their continued development in best practice Supply Chain. As part of this vision, they are seeking a Commercial & Supply Chain Manager to help lead the business forward over the coming years. 

The opportunity

As the Commercial & Supply Chain Manager, you will work incredibly closely with the CEO & CFO with the purpose of the role to make strategic Supply Chain business decisions and drive performance improvements. 

You will lead a Supply Chain team across Demand, Supply, Inventory, Procurement, Purchasing, Shipping & Quality with three Managers reporting to you who lead these respective teams. The business are looking for you to provide strong leadership for these team members to create a culture of succession planning and career progression. Ensuring accurate forecasting, inventory accuracy and DIFOT across their networks will be key areas of focus. The business has also recently implemented a new planning system which will link to their current ERP system and will be an ongoing project to link these systems together effectively. 

The Commercial responsibilities of the role will be to lead their Supplier & Customer negotiations and agreements with both local and international stakeholders to ensure minimal commercial risk and create value where possible. Working with the Category teams around new product development and sourcing alternative suppliers or reducing ranges will be other areas of focus. You will also be key to facilitating cross-functional stakeholder relationships internally across Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Services, Finance & IT to create an inclusive S&OP environment. 

There will also be a financial focus of which you will provide financial performance insights to highlight opportunities across all aspects of the business, including continuous improvement initiatives to improve margins and reduce overheads. Health & Safety will be another focus where you will work closely with the Quality Manager.

You will be able to demonstrate proven experience of your background across leading Supply Chain teams and a Commercial background providing financial insights and leading supplier and/or customer negotiations and agreements. 

The business is continuing to invest in the Supply Chain and they have made some great strides over the past 12 months with a passionate team who are motivated to keep growing. This is an excellent opportunity to lead this team while also taking on the Commercial responsibilities and working with their Senior Leadership Team.

This is a senior level role and is remunerated accordingly based on experience. There will be a bonus on top of your base salary alongside insurances.
