Description
About the company
We are partnering with a kiwi owned, long-established and very busy import/distribution business that is entering an exciting next phase of its operational evolution. In line with this, they are looking for someone to take ownership of the warehousing and distribution function, actively driving meaningful improvements across processes, systems and general performance.
About the Role
With the support and backing of the General Manager, this position blends hands-on operational leadership with strategic projects. You’ll ensure the distribution centre runs efficiently day-to-day while helping refine processes that have outgrown themselves, as the business has continued to scale. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys being close to the action while also influencing the bigger operational picture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the daily operations of a very busy distribution centre.
- Managing and developing the warehouse team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensuring efficient and accurate inbound, storage, and outbound operations – rolling up your sleeves and spending time at the coal face.
- Helping to review and refine SOPs to support a more scalable warehouse function.
- Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, and operational efficiency.
- Driving a culture of health and safety, best practise and continuous improvement across the warehouse team.
- Delivering strong standards around safety, inventory accuracy, and operational discipline.
- Working closely with senior leadership to support this next phase of operational growth.

You will need to bring:

- Experience reviewing and improving SOPs to support growth and efficiency.
- The ability to bring a team on a continuous improvement journey, building buy-in and accountability on the floor.
- A practical leadership style — someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves and leading from the front. Forklift License will be essential.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse systems, inventory control, and logistics processes, to be able to both advise and execute.
- A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to balance day-to-day operations with improvement projects and initiatives.
