Financial Accountant

About the Company
Our client is a large, well-established New Zealand organisation with a broad operational footprint. They offer a collaborative finance function and a strong track record of developing their people into senior roles.

The Role
Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the monthly and annual close process while driving cashflow reporting and working capital improvements. This is a high-visibility role for someone who wants to make a genuine impact on process and controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Take charge of the monthly close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Own the general ledger, including balance integrity and reconciliations
• Assist in preparing monthly board reports
• Prepare statutory financial statements in line with NZ IFRS
• Manage year-end reporting, including IFRS 16 lease updates
• Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks
• Act as key contact for external auditors through the year-end audit
• Manage cashflow forecasting and working capital initiatives

About You

• CA/CPA qualified or working towards, 3-5 years’ experience
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles
• Advanced Excel skills
• Demonstrated drive for process improvement and change management
• Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work independently within a collaborative team
