The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has been created for a Financial Analyst to join a growing finance operations team. This is a newly created position driven by continued growth in the business and increasing transaction volumes, offering the chance to play a key role in the daily financial operations that support a rapidly expanding payments platform.
This role sits within the settlements function and is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of merchant settlements, supporting financial reporting, and investigating transaction discrepancies. It’s a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with high-volume financial data, solving problems, and improving processes in a fast-moving environment.

The Role
Working closely with the Finance Operations Manager and wider finance team, you will support the financial accounting and operational processes behind merchant settlements. This includes daily transaction analysis, reconciliations, reporting and supporting merchants through settlement queries and disputes.
Key Responsibilities Merchant Settlements & Transactions

  • Process and quality check daily merchant settlements
  • Investigate anomalies and ensure settlements are paid accurately and on time
  • Review scheme and transaction reports and resolve discrepancies
  • Validate settlement exception reports and liaise with internal teams to resolve issues
  • Assist merchants with settlement queries and chargeback processes

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare daily and monthly journals and reconciliations
  • Manage settlement account movements and transfers
  • Perform bank and scheme reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly reporting including P&L and settlements reporting
  • Prepare invoices where required

Analysis & Investigations

  • Investigate flagged transactions and behavioural exceptions
  • Work with merchants to obtain supporting documentation
  • Review transaction files for completeness and accuracy
  • Support onboarding checks for new merchants

Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure processes comply with financial and regulatory requirements
  • Support AML and compliance checks where required

About You
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a data-heavy financial environment, has strong attention to detail, and thrives in a high-volume operational finance role.
Key Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar
  • 3+ years’ experience in finance, accounting, or financial operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Experience working with high-volume transactions or reconciliations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Desirable

  • Experience in payments, banking, or merchant acquiring
  • Exposure to Power BI or Tableau
  • CA/CPA qualification (or working towards)
