Whanganui Collegiate School is an Anglican co-educational, seven-day boarding and day school which has been providing first-class education for 166 years. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced General Manager Finance and Administration to assist WCS in our commitment to achieve the highest attainable standards and outcomes for our School community
Reporting to the Headmaster, The General Manager – Finance & Administration leads the business support activities associated with the School campus operations and is the Finance lead for the School and College Board(s)
Strategic business planning; risk management and mitigation; legal, financial, health and safety, human resources, property and facility maintenance, along with the ability to lead and manage campus projects. You will be a key member of the School’s leadership team and through effective management of the finance and administration function, you will deliver comprehensive management reporting and documentation, and commercial advice that maximises the financial performance of the organisation. You will lead a strong and well-established team and become a key figurehead in multiple critical organisational projects.
You will work to understand the complexity of the operation and its funding lines, key business drivers, ministry dynamics and growth objectives and support the wider leadership with sound financial stewardship and strategic input.
The role takes ownership for the annual budgeting process, annual financial statements, ministry of education reporting. You will also take responsibility for facility and operational management.

You will be tertiary qualified, CA qualified (or equivalent) with extensive Financial leadership experience in a complex environment. With a Big 4/CA foundation, you will have experience in both Financial Accounting and Management Accounting before working your way up to financial or commercial management level. Your Ability to work collegially with a broad range of people including staff, board members, external stakeholders and members of the community will shine through and complement your technical expertise.
Ideally, you will have a knowledge of, or willingness to acquire related Officer responsibilities as defined by the health and safety at work act 2015 (HSW) for a role on the School Executive committee.
