Our client is a specialist events business operating across New Zealand and Australia, delivering high-quality conferences for a diverse client base. They offer a genuine team environment along with ongoing training and development.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Group Finance and Operations, this Junior Accountant role supports financial reporting across a portfolio of client events, helping ensure funds are managed accurately, reporting is timely, and Project Managers are well supported. You will be involved in both client-facing financial work and internal business administration across NZ and Australian operations, making this a great opportunity to broaden your accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of accurate, timely financial reports for client events in line with the monthly reporting schedule
  • Assist Project Managers with budget development and forecasting
  • Process financial transactions including GST (NZ) and BAS (Australia) returns
  • Prepare and issue sales invoices for NZ and Australian entities
  • Reconcile bank accounts daily and support short-term cash flow monitoring across all accounts
  • Process supplier invoices and complete credit card reconciliations
  • Assist with liaising with auditors and support the year-end accounts review process
  • Contribute ideas and support to process improvement and system efficiency across the finance function

Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • Sound double-entry bookkeeping skills with a solid grasp of accounting principles
  • 1-3 years’ accounting experience and a degree in accounting
  • Exposure to Xero highly regarded
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Strong reconciliation skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear, professional communication skills, written and verbal
  • A collaborative team player who takes ownership of their work and backs others to meet shared deadlines
