A leading chemicals distribution company who provide solutions to a range of key industries across NZ. They have an established reputation and are known as an incredibly successful business with a passionate and professional team. 

The business is currently looking for an experienced National Fleet Manager to join them and lead their bulk liquid fluids team, based at their Mt Maunganui site and working at a national capacity. 
The opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Operations you will take responsibility for the smooth running of its transport assets nationwide, across 3 sites including working with their 3PL providers too. The role has 8 direct reports and a wider team of 45 of which they have a fleet of 20+ specialised vehicles. The products are dangerous goods and health and safety is absolutely paramount to this role to ensure everyone is safe while at work. Your direct reports will range from Team Leaders, Schedulers, Driver Trainers through to Process Improvement and Administration.

Critical to the role will be your people development and leadership skills. You will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders and your demonstrable relationship management, communication and influencing skills will ensure your success in building and maintaining positive working relationships. The environment is fast-paced and you will be required to work accurately at speed. 

In addition to the business as usual aspect of your role, you will have the opportunity to work on projects and initiatives to improve the overall operation in particular around asset planning and commercials such as pricing.

You will not be micro-managed, though you will be provided with guidance, direction and advice and support is always on hand if you need it.

We are looking for someone who has strong and demonstrative experience within fleet management with at least 5 years at a managerial level. A relevant tertiary qualification across Supply Chain or similar would also be an advantage. Experience in fleet and asset management is crucial and relationships with transport authorities such as NZTE through to Police would also be very desirable.
