Due to capacity restraints and the global supply shortage for raw materials, a new supplier that can supply finished goods is in the process of being bought on board.
About the opportunity:
This is a newly created role and in the first instance, they are looking to fill it with a contractor. There are two parts to this role. The first part will see you working closely with the new finished goods supplier. You will be responsible for placing orders for finished goods coming from offshore and working with Freight Forwards to coordinate the movement of the goods from the supplier’s warehouse to our client’s site. Due to having to coordinate the movements of goods from the supplier’s warehouse, you will need to work with the Freight Forwarders to organise transfers to move the product from the/to the 3PL for packing, containerisation and storage. You will work with them to develop load and shipping plans and produce all necessary documentation for import/export.
The second part of this role will see you taking over the transactional activity of the raw material purchasing from local and global suppliers and updating the status of the goods movements to the wider supply chain team. You will be working to move the raw material purchasing function from the Manufacturing team over to the Supply Chain Team.
-You will have experience in purchasing
-You will have experience in working with Freight Forwarders/3PL’s to coordinate the movement of goods from offshore
-Have worked on a major ERP
-Have the ability to self manage and work autonomously
-Have a good set of communication skills and be proactive in engaging with the wider team to give updates on stock availability and movements
