Dedicated to Continuous Improvement, the business is continuing to invest in its Supply Chain capability across the Australian and NZ businesses. As part of this vision, they are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join the team and join them on their journey to best Practice Supply Chain.

The opportunity
You will lead a team of two Purchasing Officers/Supply Planners across two manufacturing sites. Based in Auckland, you will report to the Supply Chain Manager and will be responsible for leading all purchasing and supply planning activities and providing leadership to your team.

This is not your typical Purchasing Management role. Not only will you be managing all technical aspects of the role, but you will also be provided with the opportunity to provide genuine leadership, provide coaching and development to your team (thereby shaping their careers and improving the efficiency and efficacy of the purchasing function), and contributing to the broader S&OP across the business.

This is not a desk-bound role and as such, you will be expected to proactively engage with stakeholders, build and maintain relationships and effectively influence and communicate with key stakeholders and suppliers.

Broadly your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and develop purchasing team members
  • Establish and manage all raw material and indirect purchasing activity including supplier performance
  • Supplier relationship management, contract management and negotiation
  • Continuously improvement purchasing systems, processes and performance
  • Implement purchasing strategies to ensure full supply of critical raw materials
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to proactively and continually achieve cost reductions and optimal use of working capital 
  • Demonstrate leadership and effective stakeholder management
  • Contribute to company-wide S&OP as a key member of the Supply Chain Management Team
  • Opportunity to work on an upcoming ERP implementation

What’s in it for you
An experienced Purchasing Manager (ideally) with a tertiary qualification in Supply Chain or an NZPICS or CIPS member you will have experience working in a technical purchasing role in a manufacturing environment.
