The Company
A successful NZ owned and operated SME who import and distribute market leading products in their industry. 

The business is owned by very experienced leaders who are actively involved in the day to day running of the company and are passionate in what they do. They are now looking for a Purchasing Manager to join their team to lead their purchasing activities across the business. The role is a sole charge position and you will be a key link across all business units. 

The Role 

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the overseas and local purchasing while managing suppliers with the objective to maintain efficient pricing and drive improved performance. You will work with approx 35 suppliers. Key responsibilities will be to:
  • Develop, lead and execute procurement strategies.
  • Raise and approve Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders
  • Sourcing rates and quotes with suppliers 
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and procure new products when necessary
  • Provide market data on shipping information and costs
  • Work closely with freight forwarders and shipping providers 
  • Track and report key metrics to help with decision making and drive efficiencies 
  • Perform cost analysis and benchmarking
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Working closely with sales and marketing to ensure supply of products
What’s in it for you?

This role will provide you the opportunity to truly own the purchasing function and be a key link within the business. Your key stakeholders will be Sales & Marketing, Customer Services, Warehousing through to the Managing Director. You will have great exposure across the business and will be relied on to provide timely information and to use your initiative to make purchasing decisions.

We are looking for someone who has experience within a purchasing environment and can show proven experience in managing successful supplier relationships both in local and overseas markets. There will be a lot of Excel work required and they use an ERP system also of which you will extract data from. 

The role is a sole charge position so there will be no reports with this role. We are very open to considering candidates of various experience from either looking to grow and develop into a bigger purchasing role or you may have been in leadership positions and want to take a step back to a sole charge role but still use your experience to influence both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
