The Role
Working across all parts of the consulting business, you will deliver economic analysis, lead consulting projects, and provide advice directly to clients. You will work with a team of top economists who grapple with cutting-edge economic and policy issues, including areas such as economic impact assessments, housing policy analysis, immigration and skills policy, the future of work and regional analysis.
More experienced candidates will manage projects independently. The role adds senior capability to a small, high-calibre team and deepens the insight Infometrics provides to its clients throughout New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage consulting projects from scoping through to delivery
- Conduct rigorous economic analysis and research across a broad range of client briefs
- Write clear, accessible reports and commentary for non-technical audiences
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing regional and subscription clients
- Deliver advice, workshops and presentations to clients across the country
- Where your interests align, there is scope to take on client relationship management and contribute to our regular subscription work
- Contribute to commentary on new data releases and, at times, economic forecasts
- Work both autonomously and collaboratively, as each project requires
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Economics degree, postgraduate qualification preferred
- Over four years’ experience in an economics-related role
- Broad knowledge of the New Zealand economy and the issues confronting it
- Outstanding communication skills, translating economic concepts for a non-technical audience
- Confident presenting the findings of your work to clients and stakeholders
- Highly organised, with sound time management under deadline pressure
- Advanced Excel essential; coding skills, particularly in R, an advantage
- Self-directed and comfortable taking responsibility within a flat, high-trust structure
