About the role:
Our client is looking for a Senior Purchasing Specialist to join their Planning and Purchasing team on an initial 3-month fixed-term contract.
Based on the city fringe, this is an immediate start opportunity.
This role offers broad scope and ownership across approximately five categories. You will manage around 100 SKUs and work closely with a supplier base of roughly 20, primarily within New Zealand but with some offshore too.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supply planning to ensure optimal stock availability and continuity
- Liaising with 3PL providers to monitor inventory levels and stock flow
- Supporting pricing activities and cost management initiatives
- End-to-end purchasing across multiple categories
- Basic supplier relationship management
- Managing invoice discrepancies and resolving supplier queries
- Using SAP, bespoke systems and advanced Excel capability to extract, analyse and manipulate data to inform purchasing decisions
This is a hands-on role with a mix of operational purchasing and light-touch category management, offering exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and commercial considerations.
About you:
You will bring proven experience in purchasing, procurement or supply planning within an FMCG or fast-paced environment. You are detail-oriented, commercially aware and confident managing supplier relationships.
You will have strong analytical capability, with the ability to extract and work with data across multiple systems, and advanced Excel skills to support decision-making.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally are key. Experience with SAP is highly desirable.
