The Role
As Senior Tax Accountant you’ll play a key role within a future-focused Financial Shared Services team, delivering full tax services within the Cooperative Support Centre. You will have oversight and responsibility for tax compliance, including coordinating, coaching and reviewing the preparation work undertaken by accountants across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all tax compliance activities across the Group, including managing relationships with external advisors, reviewing work undertaken by accountants, and mentoring team members.
- Provide tax advice to the finance team and support wider business initiatives, ensuring tax implications are understood and managed effectively.
- Conduct internal reviews to monitor and strengthen the Group’s compliance position, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Deliver accurate and timely tax reporting for financial statements, while driving improvements in tax accounting processes and leading tax audits with confidence.
- Champion tax technology solutions, proactively identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- Stay ahead of legislative changes, ensuring the Group remains compliant and well-prepared for evolving tax requirements.
- Support strategic projects, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructures, providing clear tax guidance and risk assessment.
Your Profile
- 3+ years of tax compliance experience
- Ideally Big 4 trained, with experience in medium to large enterprises
- Strong practical understanding of tax legislation
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Tech savvy, with the ability to work with and analyse large data sets
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer focused, with strong stakeholder awareness
