About the Company

A global freight forwarder with strong networks and an established presence in the New Zealand market has a vacancy for a Business Development Manager. This role can be based in Tauranga or the Waikato region and will cover sales across both areas. There is a significant opportunity for growth and development within the business.

About the Role

Due to continued success, they are seeking a driven Business Development Manager to join their team. Based in either Tauranga or the Waikato region, you’ll take ownership of new business sales across both territories. This is a key role within the sales team, focused on identifying opportunities, delivering solutions, and driving growth in international freight forwarding.

Some of the key responsibilities will be:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across Tauranga and Waikato.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions.
  • Work closely with internal teams including Pricing, Operations and Customer Service to ensure a seamless onboarding process for new clients.
  • Prepare and deliver tailored sales proposals and presentations.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity and pipeline progress using internal systems and CRM tools.
  • Collaborate with the broader team to share insights and contribute to overall business success.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development within international freight forwarding.
  • A results-driven mindset with a passion for building client relationships.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • The ability to identify, develop and close sales opportunities.
  • Experience using CRM or reporting tools is advantageous.
  • A team-focused attitude with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
