About the company
  
A successful, profitable and well-run business within New Zealand’s heavy raw materials sector is seeking an experienced Head of Sales to lead its national commercial function.
Supplying critical materials into infrastructure, construction and major project customers, this organisation operates in a complex, operationally-driven environment. This is a senior leadership role with strong influence and genuine scope to drive sustainable growth.
  
About the role
  
Reporting to the General Manager and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the national sales strategy, develop and execute regional growth plans, and build a high-performing sales team.  This role suits a commercially astute leader who can drive performance through disciplined execution, across pricing, tenders, forecasting, customer value propositions and market insight.
  
Key responsibilities
  

  • Lead the national sales strategy across a complex B2B customer base
  • Deliver revenue, margin and volume targets, including pricing governance and achievement
  • Lead major tenders, negotiations and commercial proposals
  • Strengthen strategic customer relationships and grow share-of-wallet
  • Lead, coach and develop a large, geographically dispersed sales team
  • Lift customer-facing capability across the wider business, not just sales
  • Deliver competitor intelligence and market insights to shape growth priorities
  • Embed disciplined forecasting, CRM/pipeline management and reporting
  • Partner closely with operations to align planning, delivery and customer outcomes

  
About you
  
You’ll be a credible, hands-on sales leader with experience in heavy materials or similarly complex B2B, operational sectors.
  
You will likely bring:

  • Senior sales leadership experience in heavy raw materials / construction materials / industrial supply
  • Proven success leading national teams through performance, accountability and coaching
  • Strong commercial capability across pricing, negotiations, credit risk and margin outcomes
  • A growth mindset identifying and executing new market and revenue opportunities
  • Strong collaboration with operations and supply chain in an end-to-end environment
