About Reduce to Clear
Reduced to Clear was founded in 2008, with a vision to minimise food wastage and to ultimately help New Zealand families stretch their grocery budgets and save money on their favourite food brands each week.
Reduce to Clear ultimately takes surplus or clearance stock from suppliers, importers and manufacturers and sells it at heavily discounted prices to the public.
With 14 stores around the North Island and one store in Christchurch, Reduced to Clear carries all kinds of bargains from frozen product, yoghurt and cheeses to chocolate and drinks and general merchandise. New stock arrives daily, and most items are up to 50 – 80% off normal RRP.
Role overview:
Reduced to Clear is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Category Manager to join its collaborative team. This Category Manager will focus on the strategic development of the Core division which broadens the Clearance division by offering everyday grocery staple items for sale.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the Core division, with a focus on analysing market trends, consumer behaviour and competitor activity.
- Source new suppliers to meet strategic category development opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure favourable terms can be negotiated.
- Ensure product quality aligns with brand standards and customer expectations.
- Set competitive pricing strategies that balance profitability with customer value.
- Analyse competitors pricing regularly ensuring ongoing seasonal products remain competitive.
- Collaborate with supplier and marketing team to develop promotional campaigns that drive category performance.
- Conduct regular range reviews to identify strategic sourcing opportunities.
- Track sales, profitability and stock levels across assigned categories.
- Work cross functionally with Operations, Marketing, Finance and Logistics to align category strategies with broader business goals.
Key requirements:
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or a related role within the FMCG sector.
- Proven track record in supplier negotiations and category growth.
- Experience in data analysis and performance reporting.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Customer centric approach with a focus on delivering value.
