The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the core compliance of the company. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

Key responsibilities:

  • Proactively observe and act on opportunities that develop new client and referrer relationships, whilst consulting with other Partners and other stakeholders to ensure an excellent collective and comprehensive approach.
  • Provide leadership to the Auckland office whilst ensuring high levels of mentorship by contributing to the development and training of team members, whilst participating in the review and monitoring of regional team members performances.
  • Participating in setting annual budgets and establishing work plans for your team and divisional productivity, working in conjunction with the Service Line Leader to monitor performance against targets, and reporting on progress on a monthly basis.
  • Identifying and cultivating business development opportunities by providing additional services to clients, ensuring these are consistent with the firm’s overall strategy and cross-function collaboration.

About You
You have a minimum of five years of corporate finance experience in a senior leadership role within a relevant firm (including consultancies, investment banks, private equity and family offices or similar). You have an existing network and an excellent understanding of New Zealand’s corporate finance landscape whilst having demonstrate experience in generating a fee base and managing a portfolio of clients and referrers. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO)you will form part of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The role supports the CEO to maximise commercial performance while ensuring that the aspirations of Iwi are met through constructive and collaborative partnerships with industry, Iwi and customers throughout the world.
  
The purpose of this role is to lead, manage and be accountable for the financial and commercial management of Moana New Zealand, ensuring robust and effective business support is provided to assist effective strategic, business and commercial decision making.
  
Specifically, the CFO is responsible for the commercial leadership, financial management, reporting, strategic planning activities, legal and risk management, tax, and treasury.
  
Key responsibilities and duties will include (but not limited to);

  • Provide financial and commercial leadership, expertise and advice to CEO, Executive Team and the Board
  • Develop long-range financial strategies and business plans
  • Manage the reporting, budgeting, and forecasting process, including timely group financial reports for Moana New Zealand’s Board and key stakeholders
  • Provide financial leadership, rigour and commercial acumen for M&A activities
  • Lead and manage the treasury function
  • Design and implement a robust governance framework and systems at all levels

To be considered for this position you must be an experienced, commercially focused, CFO who is a fully qualified accountant (CA, CPA or equivalent) with a track record of in working in medium to large fast-paced, ever-changing environments within aligned industries; seafood, FMCG, food manufacturing, agriculture, primary industries etc.
  
Along with this you will also have;

  • Previous leadership experience at a senior level in a large complex and multi-site environment
  • Strong strategic and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Deep understanding of financial regulations, reporting standards, and risk management practices
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with a focus on fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and innovation
