Description
About the Company:
Our client is a New Zealand-owned business experiencing rapid growth and expanding into international markets, supplying globally from a local base. With close to 50 people and continuing to evolve, they are scaling quickly and investing ahead of growth – including moving into larger premises to support increasing demand and rising operational complexity.
Founder-led and entrepreneurial at heart, the business values initiative, accountability, and practical problem-solving. As they continue to scale, they are now investing in supply chain leadership to further mature and strengthen their operations.
About the Role:
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a newly created functional leadership role with end-to-end ownership across demand planning, supply planning, purchasing, inventory and international logistics.
You will lead a small but critical team of two: a Junior Demand Planner and an Inwards Coordinator. While the Junior Demand Planner will manage day-to-day forecasting, you will provide the structure, oversight, development and governance to lift demand planning maturity and translating forecasts into robust, executable supply plans.
Operationally, you will have a big focus on:
- Supply planning and purchasing execution
- Supplier relationship management
- Optimising inventory performance and working capital
In time, you will also play a key role in shaping and embedding the S&OP process as the business continues to grow and evolve, ensuring strong alignment between demand, supply and commercial priorities.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- End-to-end ownership of planning, purchasing and international logistics
- Converting demand into executable supply and purchasing plans
- Managing critical and high-value purchasing decisions
- Optimising order consolidation, freight modes and cost efficiency
- Managing international suppliers, performance, pricing, lead times and risk
- Owning relationships with freight forwarders and inbound logistics partners
- Ensuring strong systems, data integrity and inbound visibility across the supply chain
- Leading, mentoring and developing your team to lift capability year on year
About You:
You bring proven experience across:
- Both demand and supply planning
- Purchasing, inventory management and optimisation
- Supplier relationship management
- International sourcing and logistics
You are commercially astute, data-driven and comfortable making decisions in a fast-growth environment. You enjoy providing structure and governance while also being close enough to the detail to drive strong outcomes. You’re confident developing junior team members and lifting functional capability over time.
Experience within FMCG, chemicals, hazmat, regulated goods or similarly complex supply chains will be highly regarded, along with strong ERP/system capability.
What’s In It For You?
- A newly created leadership role with real scope to shape the function
- Direct access to the CEO and key business decision-makers
- True end-to-end ownership across the supply chain
- Opportunity to build team capability and in time, embed S&OP from the ground up
- Exposure to international suppliers, regulated products and global logistics
- A growing NZ business where your impact will be highly visible
- The chance to grow alongside a company that is actively investing in its future
- A role that balances strategic leadership with meaningful commercial influence
