The Opportunity 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role sits at the core of the group finance function. You will own the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting across a multi-entity structure, while partnering closely with senior management, sales, and operations to drive better business decisions. The role exists to ensure both technical capability and commercial insight across the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely preparation of month-end results, management reports, and board pack contributions
  • Prepare annual financial statements for group entities in compliance with IFRS
  • Partner with the business on annual budgets and monthly forecasts, including variance commentary
  • Maintain and review inventory master costing, including updates into the ERP
  • Manage group tax compliance across income tax, GST, and FBT, supported by external advisors
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain internal controls in line with the group calendar
  • Support external and internal audits, acting as a key point of contact for audit queries
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the development of best-practice finance systems
  • Assist with company secretariat tasks including statutory filings and governance documentation
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and commercial support to the senior leadership team

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • CA qualified (or equivalent) with 5+ years’ post-qualification experience
  • Proven experience in financial reporting and statutory accounts preparation, ideally across multiple entities
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and NZ tax compliance 
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to translate financial data into clear business insights
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Confident communicator who can engage effectively with stakeholders
  • Strong Excel skills essential
  • Prior industry experience in distribution, or a multi-entity group environment highly regarded
  • Attention to detail and a genuine commitment to data accuracy and process integrity
